The Chiqlets Dance Team began over 12 years ago when students from Chiquy’s Zumba classes were inspired to seek more dance opportunities. The group started performing at local events and chose the name "Chiqlets" in honor of Chiquy’s leadership. Since then, the Chiqlets Dance Team has become a community staple, performing regularly at community events like the July 3rd Street Dance and National Night Out. With diverse members united by a love of dance, the team values integrity, compassion, and acceptance.

Chiquy Mejia
Chiquy Mejia, originally from Caracas, Venezuela, has been performing and organizing events since 1988 and has lived in California since 1997.
Known as Chiquy Boom Family Entertainer she entertains with dancing, stilt walking, balloon twisting, face painting, clowning, and magic across the Bay Area.
A trained Venezuelan folk dancer, she also teaches and performs Latin styles like cumbia, salsa, samba, and merengue and has been a Zumba instructor since 2011.
Passionate about entertainment and sharing her skills with her students at all levels while performing since 1998.
Since 2003, she has strengthened her community as Recreation Coordinator for the City of Morgan Hill, leading inclusive programs for children, teens, families and seniors.

Paula Scotney-Castle
A native of the United Kingdom, Paula co-leads performances, rehearsals and takes care of financial matters for the team.
Suzy McCloskey Hanlon
Suzy is a native of New York and works with the team for costuming and website admistration and collaboration on our YouTube channel.
Michelle Lieberman
Michelle brings her skills as a Zumba Instructor to the dance team as well as handling administration of forms, registration, event logistics, and media contacts.
